Prices reported in the Dow Jones Steel Index are for material shipped in the indicated month. Prices are reported on the 5th business day of a new month from the previous months invoices. This translates to mean the price itself was negotiated approximately 4-12 weeks earlier which is the lag time between placing an order and physically shipping the material.
